About the position
The maternity and women’s health services in Region Gävleborg cover pregnancy care, childbirth, postnatal care and gynaecology across three locations: Hudiksvall, Gävle and Bollnäs.
Every year, the teams care for approximately 2,000 pregnant women during pregnancy and support around 2,100 births.
Midwives work closely with doctors, nurses and assistant nurses in caring and hands-on multidisciplinary teams, always keeping the needs of the mother and baby at the centre of care.
Depending on the location, the role may include:
- Pregnancy check-ups
- Cervical screening
- Care during labour and childbirth
- Postnatal care
- Gynaecological care
- Rotation between different wards and clinics, depending on the location
The department works closely with neonatal care, with the aim of keeping parents and babies together as much as possible.
Region Gävleborg is also planning new, modern facilities in both Hudiksvall and Gävle, bringing pregnancy, maternity, birth and newborn care even closer together.

Requirements
Candidates must have:
- A valid licence as a midwife
- For labour and delivery positions, at least two years of experience in labour and delivery
- A responsible and flexible approach to work
- Good teamwork skills
- A strong commitment to person-centred care
- Two references from the candidate’s most recent managers
Salary and employment conditions
There are no on-call duties associated with the position.
Once the candidate has obtained their Swedish midwife licence, an individual salary applies, starting at a minimum of:€3,181/month
During Swedish language training from B2 to C1 level, the candidate is employed as a nursing assistant with a salary of:
€2,924/month
